On Sunday some of our members here at Eagle Fire Company partnered with Middle Creek Search and Rescue and conducted a joint training exercise. Both agencies reviewed Water Safety SOPs and reviewed best practices for Water Search Incidents and Search Details in/or around bodies of water. After a short meet and greet and safety brief both agencies started a training evolution for 2 missing subjects along the Susquehanna River in the area of Ely Island. Search Crews tracked the scent of the missing subjects from Gut Rd. along the York County shoreline of the River then boarded a rescue boat, traveled across the river to Ely Island, and continued the search on the island in Lancaster County. Crews used Search Teams, K9 Teams, and Water Rescue Technicians to find the simulated missing subjects. Both agencies worked together in unison and worked through multiple obstacles to exercise their skills. Great Job to all involved and it was a pleasure working with our mutual aid partners… working together to keep our communities safer.
